This past Tuesday, Paris Chansons performed at Beverly Hills lounge Riviera 31 for a night of classic tango music with a twist. This lounge, modeled after the original French Riviera’s seaside atmosphere, is located at the luxurious Sofitel Hotel – a hot spot for after work events, out-of-towners and French culture enthusiasts.
This drew a very eclectic crowd for the Paris Chansons performance themed ‘Tango in Paris”. Despite the event having an early start (6:30 p.m.), the venue filled up quickly with fans of the band and Riviera 31 regulars. I arrived early enough to grab a seat at the bar and tasted some of their signature sangria – a perfect drink for a night of tango music.
Their new fall cocktail menu is also available and includes fresh seasonal drinks concocted by resident mixologist Ferrari Watts. While enjoying drinks and tapas, attendees also observed black and white photos of 1950’s sun bathers on the walls and ceiling – yet another ode to the Riviera seaside.
By the time Paris Chansons took the stage, every seat, bar stool and standing table was taken. They began playing with a sultry violin solo that automatically sent you to the streets of Paris. Their overall performance was charming, yet energetic. Paris Chansons performs at the Riviera 31 lounge every 6-8 weeks. You can visit their website for a list of calendar events.
