PAULA ABDUL CELEBRATES HER BIRTHDAY AT AVENTINE

On any given night of the week in Hollywood, you can find yourself in the midst of glitz and glamour at a trendy little hot spot.  On June 19th, Press Pass LA had the honor of attending the legendary Ms. Paula Abdul’s 51st birthday celebration held at The Aventine Hollywood, sponsored by Malibu Red.

It was an evening under the stars tucked away in an intimate patio of all of Paula’s closest family and friends, including her boyfriend John Capio, mother and sister (pictured).  There was a funk cover band that kept all the guests, which mostly consisted of beautiful present day and former dancers, grooving to hip shaking tunes.  Ms. Abdul arrived at the venue around 9pm and was pleasantly surprised by guests that she had known throughout her years in the entertainment business, some of which she hadn’t seen since her days as a Laker girl!

Aventine Hollywood provided delicious fare from it’s succulent menu and cocktails specially created for the birthday bash.  After getting a chance to say hello to all the adoring faces, Malibu Red presented Paula with a cake fit for a queen, even adorned with a customized edible Louboutin stiletto replica.  How can I get one of those for me?!

Being that Paula is known for her generosity, she even presented a gift to all her guests.  An unknown talent by the name of Johnnie Hobbs treated the party to an electrifying tap routine!  My goodness, it was spectacular!  Tap is such a lost art, and Ms. Abdul discovered this young man and wanted to share his gift with the rest of the world.

The band continued to play some well known hits from the 70’s and 80’s, even passing the microphone to me!  This is Hollywood, so I was happy to be coaxed into my 15 minutes of fame…even if it was only for 15 seconds. Looking around the room, everyone had a smile on their face and you could feel the love that emulating for the guest of honor.  I guess that’s why she’ll always be forever our girl.
