PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARDS NOMINATIONS 2013

PPLA was in attendance this morning at The Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills where People’s Choice Awards Producer Mark Burnett and Host Kaley Cuoco announced this year’s nominations alongside country star Jason Aldean, Anthony Anderson (Guys with Kids), Sophia Bush (Partners), Jason O’Mara (Vegas), Monica Potter (Parenthood), and Casey Wilson (Happy Endings).
Prior to the morning’s announcement fans cast over 93 million votes to pick new categories and determine the nominees for the annual awards show that celebrates fan favorites in movies, music, and television. Some of the new categories include Favorite Movie Fan Following and Favorite Music Fan Following with nominees like Twihards (Twilight ) versus Potterheads (Harry Potter) and Beliebers (Justin Bieber) versus KatyCats (Katy Perry). Other fun categories include Favorite Face of Heroism, think ass-kicking women like Jennifer Lawrence (Hunger Games) and Scarlett Johansson (The Avengers), and Favorite Celebrity Judge with contenders like Adame Levine versus Demi Lovato.
There are of course all the traditional categories including Favorite Music Video, Favorite Comedy TV Actress, Favorite Movie Actor, and more! For a full list of nominees go to PeoplesChoice.com and cast your vote!
The ceremony itself felt more like a comedy show with announcers Anthony Anderson garnering laughter from the crowd as he feigned shock and disappoint when he didn’t read his own name for Favorite Comedy TV Actor. Luckily his show,Guys with Kids, was nominated for Favorite New TV Comedy. Similarly. Monica Potter had the crowd practically in tears as she joked about smoking from a bong and phonetically pronounced nominees like “Gangnam Style” by PSY for Favorite Music Video, clearly poking fun. Not to be outdone, funny lady Casey Wilson explained how she loves shows where the fans vote, any show that is “all about me”, then went on to seriously say how important it is to be selected by the actual fans.
Mark Burnett, no stranger to success with hits like Celebrity Apprentice and Shark Tank, spoke to the crowd about the success of this awards show now reaching nearly 100 million people just in nominations, and Kaley Cuoco (star of the #1 hit comedy series The Big Bang Theory) hinted at what she has planned for her second time as hostess. Vegas star Jason O’Mara and country super star Jason Aldean (who will be performing at the awards) rounded out the group delivering a few laughs and announcing the remaining categories.
