PPLA’s 2020 ROAD TO THE OSCARS: A Guide to the Gifting Suites!

It’s our favorite weekend of the year, Oscars!

Every February the industry comes together to honor the greatest talent of the season and there’s no awards ceremony more prestigious than the Academy Awards. As such, the fanfare that leads up to Oscars Sunday is equally exciting. Here’s an inside look at the lounges that made our awards- worthy list this year.

GBK Productions’ Annual Celebrity Gifting Lounge

We started our Oscars weekend on Friday, February 7th at the Kimpton La Peer Hotel in West Hollywood where Oscar nominees, past winners and celebrity guests came together to celebrate the Academy Awards.

The event benefitted charities including Global Green and Stray Cat Alliance. Nominees were gifted amazing trips to exotic locations including Le Blanc Spa Resort Los Cabos via Swanky Retreats and Raiwasa, an Award-winning Private Retreat in Fiji.

Some of our favorite vendors included Dapper and Dashing offering tuxedoes, suits and gowns for rent for any occasion – Oscar Sunday here we come! An old favorite of ours in attendance was Artisan Group who always bring an exquisite collection of handcrafted gifts for all the makers out there.

New to the lounge was Sunday Dinner Candle Co. with fun scents and diffusers, like Grandmama’s Pound Cake, and a mission to benefit the homeless. Nu U Skin Solutions handcrafted organic body butters and scrubs (we chose lavender) helped heal our winter hands so we are ready to accept an Oscar and look good doing it! Palette by Pak was a standout with the perfect travel container for your lotions, makeup and more. Perfect for touchups between the awards ceremony and the after-parties! Sue Phillips House of Fragrance got us fired up about female entrepreneurship. Sue has created signature scents for all the major labels before launching her own Scenterprise!  On the way out, we satisfied our sweet tooth with artisan cakes and deserts from Little Something Sweet.

Celebs in attendance included Oscar winner, Marcia Gay Harden; Oscar nominee, Cicely Tyson; Oscar Presenter, Zack Gottsagen (Peanut Butter Falcon); and Dean-Charles Chapman and George MacKay from Oscar nominated film 1917.

Twelfth Annual Valentine Romance Oscar® Luxury Lounge & Party

We kicked off Oscars Eve at the Twelfth Annual Valentine Romance Oscar® Luxury Lounge & Party.

The event, presented by Doris Bergman, took place at its home for the last decade plus,  Fig & Olive in West Hollywood. Attendees are treated to the delicious menu for lunch and then ushered into the lounge that  benefits charity partner  Wednesday’s Child. Lounge Founder, Doris Bergman, requests that attendees  bring either an unwrapped gift or monetary donation to support his charity which serves teens in foster care. It is a needed reminder that in an industry  with so much, there is always a need to give!

The event featured a few staples that we’ve come to expect and love including sponsors BuyWine.com and Precious Vodka. Twisted Silver Jewelry has long been a PPLA favorite, gifting us beautiful hoop earrings which we plan to wear tomorrow night to an Oscar’s viewing party! Other great gifts included Appletinies gift box (perfect for Valentine’s Day next week), Pachamama CBD, True Gold Honey, IFG Fit, My Saint My Hero, and more!

Celebrities in attendance: Sean Carrigan (Oscar Nominated Film “Ford vs. Ferrari”); Shari Belafonte  (“The Morning Show”); Adrienne Janic, (Host of “Overhaulin”);  Tichina Arnold, (“The Neighborhood”); John Brotherton “Fuller House”; Bruce Dern (Oscar Nominated Film “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood”) and more.

TMG PRE-OSCARS LOUNGE 2020

If pampering is your thing, TMG + Smile Direct at The Beverly Hilton was the place to be! We started in the Smile Direct Club Lounge getting red carpet ready with complimentary teeth whitening. The best part was the at-home kit so we can keep our smiles staying pearly white long after the weekend of velvet ropes.

Then we got our tone on with EM Sculpt getting our abs and thighs prepped to strut our stuff! There were also manicures provided by OPI, hair styling by Aquage Biomega, massages and more!

We spotted Chuck Lidell, Gilles Marini, James Pickens, Drew Seeley, Amy Paffrath, and other celebs relaxing before the big day.

DPA Pre-Oscars Gift Suite at The Luxe Sunset Boulevard Hotel

To complete our Saturday, we headed to The Luxe Sunset for the DPA Lounge.

Attendees were gifted certificates to HAAS Wellness Center for facials, body sculpting or laser treatments, perfect to wind down awards season. One of our favorites was Shalia Botanicals who gifted their BLESSED Kit featuring four CBD-based Wellness products and A Method, a medical grade skincare by Tina Alster, M.D. One of the most unique products this year was DeafMetal, an award-winning jewelry innovation for hearing aid users. Deafmetal transforms hearing aids into personalized and designer jewelry.

Other highlights included unisex undies by TomBoy X, delicious foods by Carvery Kitchen, and on -site tarot reads and reiki healing sessions.

For nominees, stars were also gifted trips to Relais and Chateaux’s Le Taha’a Island Resort & Spa, five minutes from Bora Bora!
