PPLA’s Favorite 2019 Emmy Award’s Moments

The Emmys have come and gone. Just like that, the dazzling fashion has arrived stateside for awards season, and stars are cleaning house with their awards. Check out our favorite moments from 2019’s Emmy awards below.

Michelle Williams deserves an Emmy just for writing her glorious acceptance speech. What a complete gem! Her stance on wage equality and what an incredible empowerment it is for women, will make this one of the best Emmy speeches in Emmy history. Check out the video below:

Amazon’s ruled the roost last night and may have ruined what might otherwise have been a home run for HBO. HBO arrived favored to sweep both comedy and drama categories with the final seasons of Veep and Game of Thrones. Game of Thrones did grab outstanding drama for the final time. Veep was trampled by Fleabag, (as it should have been. Fleabag is hands down the most intelligent and well written and performed comedy this year) Deadwood: The Movie lost out to Netflix’s Bandersnatch (Black Mirror), for outstanding TV movie, HBO missed its chance to sweep every major category where it was eligible, something that hasn’t happened since the era of the Big Three networks in the 1970s and 1980s.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge shuts down all talk of Fleabag season 3, much to our heartbreaking discontent. It is refreshing to see a show take it’s exit on a high note. check out the full press room speech below:

One of the sweetest moments was watching Jharrel Jerome win his Emmy for When They See Us, then later on posing with the real life Korey Wise. If you haven’t seen When They See Us on Netflix you are doing yourself a disservice.

Finally, it was bittersweet to see The Game of Thrones cast bid farewell to the fan favorite, long running show. We see you our mother of dragons. The show left is with a sour and rushed ending, but the characters are epic, performed by wonderful actors. We will always hold them and their performances dear to our hearts.
