What better way to kick off the 2013 Grammy Awards weekend than by attending the Red Carpet Events LA  Grammy Gift Lounge benefitting SPCALA at the Hyatt Century Plaza Hotel Friday afternoon? With dozens of celebrities in attendance, we made sure to catch up with all of them to give you the scoop about what is on all of their minds leading up to the Grammys this Sunday!

Besides being there to collect some cool swag, the celebrities were also there to support some great causes. The event was held in honor the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles (SPCALA), as well as the African Millennium Foundation (AMF), a strategic non-profit and non-governmental organization committed to the social and economic empowerment of the people of Africa, especially women. We had the chance to talk to CCH Pounder, an acclaimed film and television actress (RevengeAvatar) who is an avid supporter of the African Millennium Foundation (AMF). Amongst many other tasks ahead of the organization, Pounder said, “We are a small organization with huge ambitions. We are trying to create a village that will give these orphans an education, workshops, dental and medical.” She also says she hopes events like this help to inspire a younger generation of talent to get involved in any way they can.

New dad AJ McLean of the Backstreet Boys was also in attendance and just couldn’t stop gushing to us about his newborn baby girl, Ava! When asked if he would be attending the Grammys this weekend AJ said, “I’m hoping to… its hard being a new dad and trying to make things work. We don’t have a nanny; we are doing everything on our own. We can’t bring her to the Grammys, although she does have a very nice red dress she could wear.” McLean, who has always been known to push fashion boundaries, says he hopes that his daughter develops her own sense of style and doesn’t necessarily follow trends. He did say however, “if she ends up growing into my wife’s Louboutins, she will end up having a bunch of vintage Louboutins by the time she hits sixteen.” Lucky girl! With a new baby, a gorgeous wife, a jewelry line, and a fashion line coming out, it’s shaping up to be a busy 2013 for this Backstreet boy!

We also got the chance to catch up with former Pussy Cat doll Kaya Jones, who will be attending the Grammys this weekend. We asked her if she knew what she was wearing yet and she let us know she is still deciding between two different dresses. One thing she can’t live without? Red lipstick. We can’t wait to see which dress she chose for Sunday and if it will be accompanied by her signature red-lipped look!

One thing on everyone’s mind was the new CBS “wardrobe advisory,” which advises all talent appearing on camera to adhere to Network policy concerning wardrobe. The notice goes on to say, “Please be sure that buttocks and female breasts are adequately covered. Thong type costumes are problematic. Please avoid exposing bare fleshy under curves of the buttocks and buttock crack. Bare sides or under curvature of the breasts is also problematic. Please avoid sheer see-through clothing that could possibly expose female breast nipples. Please be sure the genital region is adequately covered so that there is no visible “puffy” bare skin exposure.” I asked several of the stars who they thought would be most likely to break the CBS rule and in almost a unanimous response, Rihanna seemed to be pinned the overall favorite to break the rules! Grammy nominee Paul Phamous even joked with us that he was opting out of the side boob this year, and instead gave PPLA the exclusive that he would be wearing “assless chaps” for the big red carpet event (we are sure he was joking, but funny none the less especially since he told us he would bringing his parents as his dates for the big night).

Enough of the celebrities, let’s talk swag! There were some amazing companies at the event, all ready to shower the celebs with their product. One of our favorites was Taylorsays, and although it didn’t appear she was giving anything away, Taylor had her amazingly unique shoes on hand which we’re sure caught the eyes of some of our favorite celebs in attendance (in fact, we know she caught the eyes of Kaya Jones since we noticed them tweeting back and forth yesterday). Kix’ies Thigh highs were another one of our favorites at the event. We asked Samantha DiMartini, the creator of the company, which celebrity she could see wearing her thigh highs. To our surprise she said Taylor Swift! “Thigh highs have this taboo rap that they are just for that special night or something, but that’s why I made these. I want them to be more like tights for everyday wear.” She gave us our very own pair, so we’ll have to try them out and see if they can make our bad girl self feel like a good girl in tights.

Other companies in attendance included everything from healthy snacks (Krave beef jerky and Cool-cups natural gels) to fine jewelry. A couple of our favorite jewelry pieces of the event came from Quoins and Belle Etoile, both offering gift bags featuring their beautiful pieces. Celebrities all took home a swag bag of featured products totaling $9,800.00 in free gifts!

Other celebrities in attendance included Lou Ferrigno (Hulk), Natalie Dreyfuss (Glory Daze), Shauna Case (American Horror Story), Ryan Betty (musician), Lisa D’Amato (America’s Next Top Model), Nadji Jeter (Grown Ups), and many more!

Tune into the Grammys on CBS this Sunday to find out which of these celebs will be hitting the red carpet and find out if Rihanna really is the one to push the boundaries by going against the CBS wardrobe notification!
