Press Pass LA was on the red carpet for the premiere of Ben-hur, a reimagining of the classic film which won 11 Oscars in 1959 starring Charlton Heston. The new film was produced by Mark Burnett and Roma Downey and stars Jack Huston, Toby Kebbell, Morgan Freeman, and Rodrigo Santoro.
Rodrigo Santoro, best known for his role of Xerxes in 300: Rise of an Empire, plays Jesus in the new film. We spoke to Rodrigo about taking on the challenge of such an iconic role both on screen and in history, and how he prepared for the role both physically and mentally. Santoro also tells us of the approach of the new Ben-hur bringing messages of forgiveness and redemption vs. revenge which was prevalent in the original.
Ben-hur opens nationwide Friday August 19th. Watch the trailer.
