Sail Away to Catalina Film Festival 2016!

It’s that time of year again, we’re all film buffs depart to the beautiful island of Catalina just a short ferry ride from Hollywood to enjoy some of the best independent films and awards season nominees!

If you haven’t been to the Catalina Film Festival before, you are missing out! While there are a lot of great festivals we enjoy covering this time of year from Palm Springs to Santa Barbara, only Catalina offers the added benefit of island living.

Each year we hop aboard the immaculate Catalina Express for a beautiful ferry ride and take in an hour of open seas and fresh air before pulling up to Avalon. Although you are a short distance from Los Angeles, you feel as if you are a million miles away. Catalina’s Avalon port looks like the Italian coastline and you instantly feel you’ve arrived somewhere magical.

This year, the film festival has a great lineup of more than 90 films, and we can not wait to see which films will emerge as front runners in the awards season race. We are particularly excited about the Wes Craven Horror/Thriller evening with films Lovely Day and Sweet Hollow.

Other highlights will include this year’s Avalon Award being presented to Actress Jaime King (Sin City, Pearl Harbor) and this year’s Stanley Kramer Social Artist award going to Sharon Stone

Stay tuned for our full coverage once we’re back from island time!
