SHARE INC. TO CELEBRATE 100 YEARS OF FRANK SINATRA WHILE RAISING FUNDS FOR KIDS

Every year, SHARE Inc. holds its annual Boomtown event to raise money for children with special needs and members of the community who are less fortunate.  This year’s Boomtown 2015 also honors one of its earliest supporters with a celebration of 100 years of Frank Sinatra.

ShareInvitationSHARE Inc. was founded one afternoon in 1953 when seven women (some of whom were the wives of the infamous Rat Pack) met for lunch with a mission to improve the lives of children. Fast forward 62 years and SHARE has now raised an impressive $53 million for multiple charities. Today there are over eighty incredible women (including some of the Founding Members) who continue to “Share Happily and Reap Endlessly.” These tireless volunteers are committed to helping children who are at risk by supporting treatment, re-search, prevention and vocational and independent living programs.

Their annual Boomtown event has a long tradition of Hollywood royalty. It was hosted for 17 years by Dean Martin and for ten years by Johnny Carson. It’s celebrity supports have included everyone from Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland, John Wayne, and Sammy Davis Jr. to Sharon Stone, Jennifer Holliday, k.d. lang, Jamie Lee Curtis and Bruce Willis in recent years. The charity was even honored with the highest honor a charity can get for volunteerism by President Ronald Reagan in 1988.SHARELadies_Boomtown

Some of SHARE’s major successes include providing the first financial contribution for the now industry-leading Exceptional Children’s Foundation, and early money for Stuart House at The Rape Treatment Center.  They also provide critical support for research into developmental disabilities through the SHARE Child Disability Center at Cedars-Sinai, as well as vital funding for Ahead With Horses, The Sophia T. Salvin Center, Team Prime Time and many others.

Each year, the Ladies of SHARE evaluate every grant request to be sure that the money is doing the greatest possible good, always looking for the place where their assistance is needed the most.

SHARELadies_BoomtownThis year’s Boomtown will be held on June 6th at the Broad Theatre in Santa Monica, and will be honoring the 100th anniversary of Frank Sinatra, with special guest performer Frank Sinatra Jr. It will also include a stage show featuring the SHARE ladies themselves!
