Sony’s ‘Cinderella’ Skips Theaters For Amazon

With the state of most theaters still dark, it should be no surprise that a move echoing Warner’s bold theatrical plan, Sony has chosen to make a deal with Amazon in lieu of a theatrical release of Cinderella.

The live-action musical adaptation of Cinderella, starring Camila Cabello, is the latest studio film to launch on a streamer as the fallout from the pandemic continues. The box office is back and running for summer tentpoles, with space for a family friendly film like Cinderella, looking tight. Previously Cinderella was slated to launch into theaters June 2021, but with this latest development word on the official release date is still pending.
