Sure, we’re all rooting for our favorite shows at the 68th Annual Emmy’s, but before Jimmy Kimmel delivers his scandalously funny opening monologue and before we cross fingers for a great underdog story…there’s the heavily anticipated red carpet.
While the biggest words of the evening seem like they are “and the Emmy goes to…” we all know, “who are you wearing?” takes the cake, just ask celebrity stylist, Michael O’Connor.
O’Connor chat with PPLA at StyleLab’s exclusive jewelry suite, where some of your favorite stars from Transparent, Orange is the New Black, Veep and The Catch dropped by to pick up the jewels and accessories they’ll be rocking on The Emmy’s red carpet and after party’s. StyleLab’s jewelry suite featured 25 designers and over $20million dollars worth of one-of-a-kind, exquisite jewelry and timepieces.
It was a remarkable scene of diamonds on diamonds on diamonds in a variety of shapes and colors. “Color is being seen now more than ever and naturally colored diamonds, though very rare, are in very high demand, “ says O’Connor, who has over 15years of experience in the fashion industry. He walked Jane Lynch in the right direction towards selecting her red carpet jewels. Also spotted at the suite, Transparent’s Alexandra Billings.
“Fashion is the wrapping to the gift you give the world, jewelry and accessories are the ribbon and bow, ” say’s O’Connor, which is why he always advises his celebrity clients towards choosing eye-catching pieces that really pop. “More is more…more is better,” he stressed, “however it’s important to keep in proportion.” With that in mind, the self-proclaimed “maximalist” said to keep an eye out for the leading men who have stepped up their game this awards season. In particular, O’Connor hinted towards Veep’s Reid Scott as taking a red carpet risk.
Keep an eye out for Michael O’Connor’s new jewelry collection coming this fall on J Television. As a previous designer for mega labels like Gucci and DeBeers, you know he’ll hit JTV with loads of incredible trending pieces as well as some unique and affordable red carpet items.
