Last night, PPLA was front and center for The Lucky One premiere which took place at the famous Grauman’s Theater on Hollywood Boulevard. Stars Zac Efron (17 Again, High School Musical) and Taylor Shilling (TV’s Mercy) walked the red carpet!
The Lucky One is based on the Nicholas Sparks best-selling novel of the same name. Sparks other recent movie-to-film hits include The Notebook and Dear John. The film, directed by Scott Hicks (No Reservations), also stars Blythe Danner (Meet the Parents).
Efron plays U.S. Marine Sergeant Logan Thibault who returns from his third tour in Iraq with only a picture of an unknown woman which he found in the dirt during combat and he credits as his lucky charm for keeping him alive. He learns of the woman’s identity, Beth (Shilling), a recently divorced woman with a small child, and gets a job at her family-owned local kennel. After some hesitation, they embark on a love affair but the secret of the photo ventures to tear them apart.
The red carpet also featured celebrities Ashley Tisdale (Hellcats, High School Musical), Audrina Patridge (The Hills), and Matt Lanter (90210)
The film is set to release nationwide April 20th. Although Efron’s last two roles, Charlie St. Cloud and New Year’s Eve, were not huge box office successes, rumors are that the The Lucky One is sparks best film since The Notebook and could solidify Efron’s place as a box office opener.
