Tonight was the season finale of The Voice and Press Pass LA was at the taping and red carpet to interview the final four contestants including this year’s winner, Jermaine Paul. Plus, check out what Carson Daly and Cee Lo Green had to say about this season!
Despite amazing performances by all four finalists during the blind auditions, battle rounds, and live performances, only one contestant could leave tonight with a record deal and the title of being The Voice. Tonight, it was in the cards for Jermaine Paul, coached by Blake Shelton throughout Season 2.
The score card put Chris Mann in the fourth spot, followed by Tony Lucca in third, and Juliet Simms as the runner-up.
Highlights of tonight’s show included performances by winner, Jermaine Paul, alongside The Voice castoffs Jamar Rogers, Pip, and James Massone in matching gold suits (and bow ties!) performing to the Jackson 5’s “I Want You Back”. Juliet Simms (taking on Sia’s part) sang alongside Flo Rida to “Wild Ones” and he also performed the hit “Whistle”. Juliet also sang “With a Little Help from My Friends” with her friends Erin Willet, Raelynn, and Jamar. The Voice eliminated contestants including Naia Kete, Cheesa, Kim Yarbrough, and Sera Hill sang a rendition of “Superstition”. Chris Mann paired up with two ladies- Katrina Parker and Lindsey Pavao- who he brought back to accompany him on “Bittersweet Symphony”. Similarly, Tony brought back contestant Jordis Unga to sing “Go Your Own Way”. The three male finalists joined Hall & Oates to perform “Rich Girl” and Lady Antebellum performed their song “Wanted You More”. Not to be outdone, pop star Justin Bieber took the stage to dance and sing his hit “Boyfriend”.
The night also included a few funny moments courtesy of NBC in the form of SNL type skits that featured Cee Lo and his spinning chair in a Parks and Recreation spoof. And of course, a nod to his cat Purrfect, the fifth judge!
Jermaine Paul, who won the title by a slim 4% margin, will receive a 100,000 dollar record contract and the satisfaction of no longer being a back-up singer (even if it was for the talented Alicia Keys!). The public has spoken and Jermaine is The Voice!
