‘The Hate You Give’ is a New York Times best seller, and sure to be a mega-hit.
A commentary on guns and the racial divide facing the country, ‘The Hate You Give’ is an incredible think piece showcasing the inequality between classes in modern America. A young girl is caught between two classes, two cultures, and unspeakable loss. Poignant and thought provoking this is one movie you definitely shouldn’t skip seeing.
‘The Hate You Give’ is set to hit theaters October 19th. The film follows the story of Starr (Amanda Stenberg), who witnesses the death of her Black childhood best friend at the hands of a white police officer. Her friend, Khalil (Algee Smith), was unarmed, but after his name becomes a headline, he’s painted in a totally different light. What ensues is a battle between Starr’s roots in her predominantly Black neighborhood versus her everyday life at a mostly white high school. Her actions, and the actions of the community around her, will determine if justice is served to the policeman responsible for Khalil’s death.
