Henry Golding is back with his new movie Monsoon, due out November 13th.
Kit (Henry Golding), a Vietnamese man living in England, returns to Saigon for the first time in over 30 years. With both himself and the country changed, we travel along this story as we see his past and present collide. This is Kit’s first time back to Saigon (as Ho Chi Minh City is still known) since the Vietnamese-American war forced his family to flee on UK rescue boats for their safety.
Henry Golding takes a measured approach to Kit. After reconnecting with childhood friend Lee (David Tran) and becoming romantically entwined with an African-American designer, Lewis (Parker Sawyers), whose father fought in the war, he tries to fill in the blanks in his cultural memory while appreciating that the Vietnam he left is not the one he has returned to. It is refreshing to see an asian film, made from western society not feature a Caucasian hero.
