It truly was the beginning of the end! At least, one would think so, judging by the sheer enormity of the premiere for the final installment in the Twilight saga. Fans camped outside for days waiting to catch a glimpse of the Cullen clan they have come to love over the previous four films. This fifth film marked the conclusion of the series and for many fans a bittersweet moment that started when they first read the novels by author Stephenie Meyer. PPLA was at L.A. Live to experience the pandemonium.

The ‘black carpet’ was filled with vampires and werewolves alike, bringing out memorable characters both old and new. In attendance included original cast members like Peter Facinelli (Carlisle), Elizabeth Reaser (Esme), Billy Burke (Charlie), Sarah Clarke (Renee), Gil Birmingham (Billy), Justin Chon (Eric), and Michael Welch (Mike). Other cast stirring up cheers from the crowd were favorites like Dakota Fanning (Jane), Booboo Stewart (Seth), Julia Jones (Leah), and Michael Sheen (Aro). Additions to the saga making their debut in Breaking Dawn Part II included vampires Tracey Huggins (Senna), Judi Shekoni (Zafrina), Maggie Grace (Irina), Angela Sarafyan (Tia), Daniel Cumore (Felix), Charlie Bewley (Demetri), Omar Metwaly (Amun), Marissa Quinn (Huilen) and Amadou Ly (Henri), in traditional African dress, and more!

But the cast members who drew the most crowd volume were of course Jackson Rathbone (Jasper), Ashley Greene (Alice), Nicki Reed (Rosalie), Kellan Lutz (Emmett), Taylor Lautner (Jacob), and stars Robert Pattinson (Edward) in a green suite and Kristen Stewart (Bella) in a nude lace dress. Making a long-awaited appearance was actress Mackenzie Foy who plays Renesmee the daughter of Bella & Edward in the final chapter.

The carpet also saw filmmakers Bill Condon (Director), Melissa Rosenberg (Screenwriter), Wyck Godfrey (Producer) and creator Stephenie Meyer (Author of the Twilight Series) who talked with PPLA about their journey from start to finish and how this series has reached heights they never could have expected.

Celebrity supporters in attendance included Ashley Tisdale, Bella Thorne, Trevor Donovan, Molly Sims, Mayim Bialik, Julianne Hough, and Christina Perri to name a few.

The black carpet stretched in a U-shape in the center of L.A. Live surrounded by fans including teenage girls and boys to middle-aged women shedding tears of excitement and loss as this series comes to a close. There were countless signs, posters, and T-shirts to be signed and the cast spent time shaking hands and accommodating the fans who so feverishly supported their journey. We even saw a few Edward look-a-likes among the crowd and fans wearing red contacts to emulate the vampire eyes of the cast.

Post-carpet the fans and cast alike were ushered into the screening of the film which has been declared the best in the series, with the last thirty minutes being a real marvel for fans providing an ending that is truly satisfying. After the movie, the cast attended the private party dubbed Breaking Dawn: Part II Forever.

The series will be missed but rest assured fans will be seeing their favorites on the big screen in new projects! In the meantime, fans are already anticipating the latest sci-fi film adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s novel The Host. Watch that trailer here.
