Wanna Join Soho House? Dream on LA

Soho House is an exclusive creatives club and it has decided to shutter its doors for new membership in Los Angeles, New York City, and London.

The only time Soho House put a pause on membership (well, new membership) was during the pandemic that had us all locked away. The word on the street is that concerns Soho House was becoming a little too accessible was at the root of this decision. Soho House founder Nick Jones has told members its locations in L.A., New York and London will be closed to new applicants, and other outposts will only add “where we have capacity.”

Over the past several years many members clubs have popped up all over Los Angeles. Some members clubs have closed their doors almost as fast as they opened them. The sheer numner of new clubs offering “exclusivity” can give you whiplash if you’ve been following along.

Jones wrote in the letter to membership, “I’ve been talking to our members and the teams in all our houses, which I’ve really valued. We continue to be very focused on improving service, as well as making sure our houses don’t feel too busy.” A Soho House rep declined comment.

The three cities also represent locations where Soho House has had the longest presence. Overall, the club counts 184,000 global members with 98,000 currently on a waitlist.
