Lambda Legal celebrated its 40th Anniversary by hosting their annual West Coast Liberty Awards at the London West Hollywood Hotel. Lambda Legal is the oldest and largest national legal organization whose mission is to achieve full recognition of the civil rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender people and those with HIV through impact litigation, education and public policy work.
The event is an opportunity for Lambda Legal to recognize and thank individuals and organizations whose public advocacy and work has furthered the cause of their vision on equality.
This year’s West Coast Liberty Awards was hosted by Lance Bass (N’Sync). Justin Barha (The New Normal, The Hangover Trilogy), Brendon Ayanbadejo (Super Bowl Champ), Eric Webber (former President of the LA County Bar Association) and the Magic Johnson Foundation were all honorees at the event. Supporting them on the red carpet were: Dan Bucatinsky (Scandal), Greg Louganis (Olympic Gold Medalist; Splash), Blair Late (Red Carpet Host; Bravo’sNewlyweds: The First Year), Jai Rodriguez (Malibu Country; Queer Eye for the Straight Guy), Carly Chaikin (Suburgatory), Louis Van Amstel (DWTS), Rex Lee (Suburgatory; Entourage), Grant Bowler (Liz & Dick), Tracie Thoms (RENT), Grant Show (Devious Maids), Iqbal Theba (Glee), Katherine LaNasa (Deception), Katrina Parker (The Voice), Cooper Huckabee (Django Unchained) and many more.
We spoke to Lance Bass about how it felt to host the event and he said, “It’s great! You know Lambda Legal is something that I’ve been aware of and supporting for many years now and I was honored. I’ve always wanted to come to this event but never got to go and now I’m hosting it. I feel very special and just honored to be a part of this whole organization.” Guests enjoyed a cocktail reception, silent auction and dinner. We congratulate Lambda Legal on 40 years of service and wish them 40 more!
