This past weekend the World Poker Tour launched the WPT Foundation, a series of philanthropic poker events called Playing for a Better World. The kickoff was held in Beverly Hills at the SLS hotel and brought out A-list celebrities and some of the biggest names in professional poker to help raise money and awareness for four different WPT charity partners. The event featured poker games, a silent auction, and a special menu by famed chef Jose Andres! We were live on the red carpet for this inaugural event.

The WPT Foundation’s global charity partners at this event included Conservation International, Enough Project, We Advance, and World Central Kitchen.  The host featured members Mario Bello, Gerard Butler, Don Cheadle, Will Ferrell, Woody Harrelson, Eva Longoria, Joel Madden, Nicole Richie, Jeremy Piven, Andrea Savage, Rob Riggle, Sophie Winkelman, Frederick Windsor, and Robin Wright, many of whom walked the red carpet. Other attendees included poker players Daniel Negreanu, Tony Dunst, and Liv Boeree, and guests like Amaury Nolasco and Terrence Howard.

Guests of the event were able to enjoy creations from chef Jose Andres’ restaurant, The Bazaar, and enter to win prizes that included private training sessions with top poker players, a  cabin on a WPT cruise, a  private helicopter tour of Los Angeles, and much more.
