PPLA hit the red carpet for the World Premiere of Your Sister’s Sister which opens nationwide this June. The film stars Emily Blunt, Mark Duplass, and Rosemarie DeWitt. One thing is clear, Blunt is clearly the belle of the Tribeca ball having opened the festival with The Five Year Engagement and now making headlines with her turn in this film about three damaged souls who find solace in each other.
The film, was written and directed by Lynne Shelton who previously worked with lead actor Mark Duplass on Humpday. In this film, Jack (Mark Duplass) hasn’t recovered from his brother’s death. His best friend- and late brother’s ex- Iris (Emily Blunt) sends him to her family’s isolated cabin for some quiet reflection, but complications, rivalries, and surprising revelations arise when both Iris and her heartbroken sister Hannah (Rosemarie DeWitt) end up at the cabin as well.
While the story and even the outcome might seem familiar if not predictable, the film’s witty dialogue, honest relationships, and incorporation of improv equate very real, developed characters that resonate on screen. It is an candid look at loss, love, and longing and is a clear indie favorite at the festival.
